The above are photo albums from the trip. The
condition in Port-au-Prince
is unspeakable like a living hell. The survivals are in need of drinking
water, food and cloths. Medical care is either lacking or inadequate.
Taiwan Root and Project Haiti Heart Team did what we could running clinic
at the Taiwan's Oversea Engineering and Construction Corporation
(OECC) site in the daytime and covering General Hospital Emergency tents,
Internal Medicine Ward and Pediatric tents at night. Everyone just
worked and worked until exhausted trying to save lives, doing wound care, and
giving comfort to the patients and their families. All relief workers and
US airborne army soldiers
stationed in the GeneralHospital were so impressed by Taiwan team's
hard work and compassionate care to these suffering people.
Many thanks to Taiwan's Oversea Engineering and Construction
Corporation (OECC), Dominica Republic Taiwan Commerce Association, DR and Haiti
Embassy's big help in all logistic planning, and providing transportation, food
and lodging for the team. Project Haiti Heart second team led by Dr.
Serge Geffrard is there now (left from Atlanta
to Santa Domingo on 1/29/10) to continue our work.
Our Formosa Ob-Gyn Clinic at Fonds Parisiens is now running
beautifully. The Vermont
surgical team is operating there now. Pastor Etienne Prophete of Christian
Haitian Mission is organizing different teams from US to come at different
weeks to work there. Since the Haiti government is planning to relocate
500,000 people refugee there and our Clinic is the only Hospital in the
vicinity, Formosa Ob-Gyn Clinic is becoming locally famous and in the same time
it is becoming very important for patient care at the East side of Haiti.
My deep thanks to all our previous donors to make this PHH dream come
true and thanks Taiwan's Oversea Engineering and Construction Corporation
(OECC) in Haiti built it so beautifully and sturdy not affected by the
earthquake (and it is 1.5 hours away from epicenter).
Thanks for all your donation and we will need more to help the
survivals in the short and long run. I will try to write a full report
later.
For Donation, please write to: Project Haiti Heart, send to Dr.
Ming Young, 7600 SW 124th Street,
Miami, FL33156. Project Haiti Heart is
co-founded by Dr. Geffrard (a Haitian American) and Dr. Ming-Lon Young (a
tax exempt nonprofit organization).
May God gives us strength to help our brothers and sisters in Haiti.
