NATMA Foundation Scholarship: Empowering the Next Generation of Healthcare Leaders
The North American Taiwanese Medical Association (NATMA) Foundation Scholarship recognizes exceptional healthcare trainees of Taiwanese and Taiwanese American descent who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to serving the Taiwanese American community.
Through the generosity of the NATMA Foundation, three (3) $ 3,000 scholarship grants are awarded annually to medical/dental/allied health students and residents or fellow-in-training of Taiwanese American descent to recognize their academic excellence and contributions to the Taiwanese American community. When selecting scholarship recipients, NATMA looks for candidates who:
* Demonstrate academic excellence
* Show a strong interest in NATMA and its goals, including serving as potential student representatives for the organization
* Propose a clear, achievable project that will benefit NATMA and the Taiwanese/Taiwanese American community
Eligibility
* Be of Taiwanese or Taiwanese American descent
* Meet one of the following criteria:
1) Be currently accepted to or enrolled in an accredited US healthcare-related graduate program (MD/DO/DMD/PA/Nursing)
2) Be a postgraduate trainee in the United States (e.g., resident or fellow) in a medical or dental specialty, or
3) Be a graduate of a healthcare-related graduate program who intends to pursue residency or further clinical training in the United States
* Be in good academic and professional standing
* Be a current NATMA member. If you are not yet a member, please apply through www.natma.org.
Applications will not be reviewed until membership is confirmed.
Scholarship Project Requirement
A distinguishing feature of the NATMA Foundation Scholarship is its emphasis on community engagement and leadership. All applicants must propose a project that aligns with NATMA’s mission and benefits the Taiwanese/Taiwanese American community. Selected recipients will be paired with a NATMA mentor who will provide guidance throughout the project.
Each proposal should include:
* Objective and Purpose
* Target Audience
* Implementation Plan
* Project Timeline
* Expected Impact
* Deliverables
Recipients are expected to complete their proposed project and submit both an interim progress report and a final report documenting the project’s outcomes and impact.
Application Materials
Applicants should prepare the following materials:
* Completed scholarship application
* Curriculum Vitae (CV)
* Personal statement
* Project proposal
* Any additional supporting documents requested in the annual application
